Emilia Chiscop-Head is the Science & Society Assistant Manager for Education. Emilia administers day-to-day operations for all the academic programs within Duke Initiative for Science & Society: Huang Fellows Program, the MA in Bioethics & Science Policy and the Undergraduate Certificate in Science & Society. Emilia also manages the SciPol Jobs Website.
Previously, Emilia served as the senior program coordinator for student and academic services for the Master of International Development Policy at the Duke Center for International Development, Sanford School of Public Policy. Emilia is a graduate of Duke University’s Master of International Development Policy Program, preceded by a master’s degree in Bioethics at Case Western Reserve University as a Fogarty International Center fellow and a postgraduate degree in Business Administration from Alexandru Ioan Cuza University (Romania). Before moving to the United States, Emilia had an internationally awarded career in journalism, in her native country, Romania. In 2015, Emilia earned her PhD degree in History from the Romanian Academy of Science, with a dissertation in the history of Romanian news media.
