Science misinformation and disinformation — often propagated by social media — are prevalent and ever-increasing. They can be particularly problematic for researchers striving to effectively communicate the relevance of their work to diverse public audiences as part of their broader impacts (BI) efforts. In the November installment of ARIS Office Hours, Dr. Scott Brennen (Senior Policy Associate at Duke University’s Center on Science & Technology Policy) and Dr. Jory Weintraub (Science Communication Director with the Duke Initiative for Science & Society and ARIS Co-PI) will discuss science mis/disinformation, why it seems to be spiraling out of control right now, and how researchers can continue to do effective BI in the current, challenging climate.
