Event Details
Under our veneer of rigorous rationality, scientists are not merely seekers, but thrill seekers with more in common with rock and roll musicians than you might think. Biologist and author Sean B. Carroll will talk about how anyone can get—or at least share—in those thrills.
Sean B. Carroll is Vice President for Science Education at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Professor of Biology at the University of Maryland. His books include: Endless Forms Most Beautiful: The New Science of Evo Devo and the Making of the Animal Kingdom; The Serengeti Rules: The Quest to Discover How Life Works and Why It Matters; and Brave Genius: A Scientist, a Philosopher, and Their Daring Adventures from the French Resistance to the Nobel Prize.
This event is co-sponsored with the Department of Biology and the University Program in Genetics and Genomics at Duke University.
Please note that this Periodic Tables will be held on a Thursday instead of Tuesday and we’ll be starting 30 minutes later. Oh, and this one will be FREE to attend! We’re waiving the $5 cover charge.
