Join us for a screening of the documentary, The Providers.

There are many fronts to the battle for equitable access to medical care in the United States. Common care often focuses on urban environments and only now increasingly consider rural America, but the rural poor have long been a focal point of policy frameworks for access.

In the 1990s, the television show Northern Exposure provided one vision of the intersection between providers and communities. The Providers documentary, which premiered at Full Frame in 2018, adds further nuance to a dynamic picture of the need for access to medical care in rural communities.

The documentary film focuses on the reality of modern health care among rural New Mexico’s Native American communities and how limited resources impact individual stories.
