Contagious diseases present risks for the broader population.  How do we balance individual freedom with the rights of others not to be infected?

— There is a desperate need for health workers to help address the Ebola epidemic in Africa. Yet, these altruistic individuals face potential mandatory quarantines upon returning home.

— Some parents believe that it is their right not to have their children vaccinated for common diseases.

But what about all of those who might be put at risk by these decisions?

Join Buz Waitzkin, JD, LLM, to discuss these issues. Buz spent 35 years practicing law in Washington, DC, is currently Deputy Director of Science & Science, and teaches Science Law and Policy, and Ethics in Clinical Informatics. Click here for the flyer.
