Event Details

The SLAP Lab (Science, Law & Policy Lab) is designed to bring science to bear on questions of law and policy. Join us for our fall info session on Tuesday, September 4th at 4:30.

Meet Director Nita Farahany and learn about what we’re researching, how to get involved, and discuss ideas you might like to explore. New topics are added each year based on lab member interests.

Current and future projects will explore:

  • Ethical, legal, and policy issues pertaining to explainable AI, such as the “black box” of machine learning, and transparency in the use of AI
  • Public attitudes toward consumer neurotechnology devices
  • Privacy of brain wearable analytics and assessment of claims
  • Empirical use of neuroscience in the criminal courtroom
  • Legal implications of illicit crimes in virtual reality
  • Right to likeness
  • Emerging ethical and policy issues in blockchain technology
