Dr Lewis Akenji is a political economist with an interest in institutions, policies, and the allocation of scarce resources towards competing societal objectives within ecological limits. He is Executive Director of the Berlin-based think tank Hot or Cool Institute, and co-chair of the Club of Rome Taskforce on Materials and Consumption.
He has consulted with organizations including United Nations agencies, Asian and African development banks, the European Commission, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and as technical or science-policy adviser to several national government delegations.
Lewis has an M.Sc. Sustainable Resource Management (Technical University Munich, Germany) and a Ph.D. Political Economy (University of Helsinki, Finland).
