Nia Johnson, J.D.
Visiting Assistant Professor or Law and Science & SocietyNia Johnson’s scholarship lies at the intersection of health policy, bioethics, race, and the law. Her work aims to study implicit biases and explicit discrimination in the delivery of healthcare throughout the United States. The goals of her work are to create a more equitable society and in the process uncover gaps in the equitable distribution of healthcare resources. Her work accomplishes this by empirically studying the impact of anti-Black racism in the healthcare system, examining where the law has been a tool for accomplishing better healthcare allocation, and where it may undermine the healthcare interests of Black Americans.
Nia received her Bachelor of Arts in International Studies at Oakwood University, her Masters of Bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania, and her law degree from Boston University School of Law. While attending Boston University School of Law, she served as the Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Law and Medicine from 2018-2019. She is currently a Health Policy Ph.D. Candidate at Harvard University, with a concentration in Political Analysis.
