Possible malaria treatment from cancer research

Scientists looking for new drugs to fight malaria say they might be closer than first thought, according to new research from Duke University.

In fact, some compounds currently being tested to treat cancer could prove successful in treating the disease that afflicts more than 200 million people and claims hundreds of thousands of lives each year, particularly in Asia and Africa.
