Robots eyeing your job

this age of robotics, pilots might fear for their jobs while those in areas that require a lot of dexterity can rest easy for a while, says Mary Cummings, director of the Duke University Humans and Autonomy Laboratory.

Cummings, a former U.S. Navy fighter pilot, was among 25 speakers and performers at the recent Cusp Conference at the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Cummings said drones are more likely to handle military missions, and the threat they pose to other jobs, such as package delivery, is growing, she said.

“The transportation industry is in big trouble from robotics,” Cummings said.
